The Best Confectionaries in Boston’s historic North End February 9th, 2010

Students and staff enjoy cakes, cookies, candies and pastries in Boston’s historic North End.

The historic North End of Boston is known as Boston’s little Italy and is home to many well-known restaurants, cafes, and pasty shops. Here you will find some of the best traditional Italian pastries in the world (us Bostonians like to think that it rivals those in Italy). On Tuesday, February 2, our students and staff visited one of the best bakery’s in town, Modern Pastry! Since the 1930’s, Modern Pastry has been one of the tastiest hidden gems in the North End; an award winning, family owned Italian bakery that offers original recipes and time-honored traditions. In fact Boston Magazine voted Modern Pastry the “Best of Boston 2009 Cannoli”.  As written in Boston Magazine, “the North End’s bakeries are famous for long lines and cannolis, but the latter doesn’t always justify the former. Among far too many soggy pretenders, this crisp shell filled with silky-smooth ricotta cream is unquestionably worth the wait.” If you are a pastry lover Modern Pastry is the number one place to fill your cannoli craving. I encourage anyone who visits Boston to check out this delicious cream and confectionary sugar filled pastry shop at 257 Hanover Street, Boston MA 02113. You will not be disappointed!
