Choose a quality English course for international students at English Language Center (ELC) to help you learn and perfect your American English. For beginners, intermediate and advanced students, choosing ELC is the best way to study and learn English. In your English classes you will be taught by ELC teachers who are native speakers of American English, all of whom have a university degree and specialized training in Teaching English as a Second Language. Outside of your English classes, you will have the opportunity to practice English while you explore the local life in one of ELC’s beautiful locations and learn about American culture. Live on campus and study English with ELC at UCLA, UCSB or Wheelock College. (Wheelock College and UCSB English courses take place at our main location).
Study English and meet other mature adult students aged 50+, with a program of morning English classes and specialized activities in the afternoon.
Study English in the morning and participate in specialized activities organized by ELC in the afternoon. Choose from Yoga, Surfing, Photography, Music, Hollywood, Dance, or Tennis. For intermediate level students and higher.
Live and learn English on campus at MIT, UCLA, UCSB or Wheelock College during July and August. The all-inclusive program includes English classes on campus, activities, and full-board residential accommodation and is for young learners ages 11-13 and 14-17.
Live and learn English with an American homestay during January in Los Angeles, Boston, or Santa Barbara. The all-inclusive programs include English classes at ELC, activities, and half-board homestay accommodation, and is for young learners ages 14-17.
When you arrive at ELC you will be given a placement test that will ensure that you are placed in the correct level among ELC’s 12 levels. ELC’s unique multi-level placement policy means that you will be in the correct level for each skill area and learn English in a comfortable setting. For example, in our General English courses students may be placed in different levels for grammar and vocabulary lessons and conversation lessons. Intermediate level students will be allowed to take Electives. ELC monitors your progress throughout your English course through frequents tests and quizzes, and you will advance through the levels as you improve your English language skills. Throughout the duration of your English course, ELC school staff provides academic and other support services including a free teacher-led academic study hall. All classes are taught by highly-qualified native American English-speaking ESL instructors

Teachers also instruct students on how to learn English with accelerated learning techniques, by creating an environment that facilitates ready English learning. All ELC teachers are native speakers of American English. All have a university degree and specialized training in Teaching English as a Second Language.
