Fernando is a returning ELC student from Brazil. He studied computer engineering in Brazil and came back to Los Angeles to continue to improve his English. He’s always laughing inside and outside of the classroom and is a blast to talk to. Why don’t you read a little bit about Fernando’s experience in LA below?
No, this is my second time in the United States. My first time in the US was four years ago, in Los Angeles, where I studied at ELC for two months, and I returned to Brazil to graduate in computer engineering.
I’m impressed by the USA; the states are independent and have their own laws and rules.
No, I did not have any cultural shock because I come from Brazil, where the culture is very similar, so it was very easy to adapt here.
In Los Angeles, I like to go to Venice Beach or Santa Monica to ride bikes. My hobbies are electronics and technology.
My favorite app is Instagram.
I think the most important thing is not to be ashamed or afraid to make mistakes and talk as much as possible.
My favorite place is Venice Beach because there, at the end of the day, you can have a beer and enjoy the sunset. It is a unique experience.
My favorite restaurant is In-N- Out. In my opinion, it serves the best burgers in Westwood.
I love every kind of food. I like to discover new tastes, particularly meat and pasta.
I have been studying at ELC for seven months, and I had many good times. One in particular that I will never forget was a conversation class with Renata. That day, we had a game where we had to go outside and complete some missions, such as taking a picture with a stranger on the street who had a UCLA shirt.
My plan is to start attending college in Santa Monica next week, graduate as a computer scientist, get a job in my area, continue to develop my knowledge, and gain new experiences.
