Yu-Han is from Taiwan, and has been studying at ELC Los Angeles for 24 weeks in our Semi-Intensive Plus Course. She has been here since October 2017 and is having an excellent time! She loves the guitar and exploring what Los Angeles has to offer. Find out some more interesting things about her below:
Where were you born and raised? Give us a mental picture of the place(s).
I was born and raised in Taiwan.
What do you do for fun?
I usually play my guitar for fun.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are reading and playing the guitar.
What is your special talent?
I can play the guitar and I do flower arrangement.
What is your profession?
It will probably be in medicine, as a forensic doctor.
What do you like about it?
I am interested in the human body.
Tell us about your family, do you have kids? Siblings? Pets? Do they live close to you?
I am just 16, and I have a younger sister, a younger brother, and a very, very cute dog. We are the best friends in the world.
Why did you choose to study English in Los Angeles?
Because I have an aunt living here and the weather here is so good.
What are all the ways that LA is different than your city/town?
The weather is better.
What were you most surprised to learn about the US or Los Angeles?
I thought there were lots of celebrities around here but it was not like that.
Did you experience any culture shock?
I was so shocked that everyone greeting you while walking on the street.
What do you miss most about your country?
The food and my family. (There is too much cheese in LA, and no spicy food).
What are your top three favorite places in LA?
UCLA, Universal Studios, Souplantation is my favorite restaurant.
Where have you found the best food from your country in LA?
I think there is no Taiwanese food in LA.

When we are discussing all about cultural things.
Favorite activity at ELC:
The Halloween party!!!
What are some tips you have for people who want to learn English?
Watching movies without subtitle and reading is very helpful.
What are your plans after ELC?
I will go back to Taipei and restart my high school.
