Summer Activities in Los Angeles – ELC Los Angeles August 13th, 2013

Summer Activities in Los Angeles

Although there are plenty of things to do in Los Angeles all year-round, there are activities that you can take advantage of especially (or only) during the summer! If you’re a student during this summer in LA, here are some things you can put on your to-do checklist:

1) Hollywood Bowl

Hollywood Bowl

Hollywood Bowl is the world’s largest outdoor amphitheater in the nation! Here, you can watch various performances (musicals, singers, jazz/classical music) under the natural night sky. Another fun element is that you can bring your own food and have a picnic with your friends! A glass of wine, some cheese, and cured meats anyone? The prices for tickets vary from $1 to $100, but because there are different types of seating to choose from, there are plenty of affordable tickets.

Another bonus is that they have a roundtrip shuttle leaving from Westwood Village (just a couple minutes from ELC) for just $5!

Visit http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/ to check out the calendar and plan a visit to Hollywood Bowl!

2) Hiking to the Hollywood Sign

Hollywood Sign

You can see the famous Hollywood Sign from Hollywood & Highland, but do you want to see it up close? Then take advantage of the beautiful weather during summer and take a hike to get really close! This website http://hollywoodsigntrip.com/ has a lot of helpful information to help you get there, so make sure to read it through before you go. Tip: Don’t forget to bring enough water and go during the earlier hours so you won’t get beaten by the heat. Also-don’t forget your camera, of course!

3) Summertime Cinema at Westfield Century City Mall!

Only during the summer season, Westfield hosts free movie nights at the mall! These movies are shown outdoors at the dining terrace of Century City Mall, and held every Friday at sunset (between 8:30pm and 8:45pm).

Check out their schedule at http://on.fb.me/1dfj1Co so you can catch the next movie!

4) DineLA July 15 – July 26

dine-la

Attention all food lovers! The summer time DineLA Restaurant Week is now taking place, until Friday July 26. DineLA is held only a few times a year, and is a 12 day event where customers are able to enjoy a specially priced prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus from Los Angeles’ finest restaurants. Some restaurants have really good deals during these 12 days, so make sure to put in a reservation!

5) Enjoy the sun at the Beach

When students come to Los Angeles, one of the things they are always excited for is the beach. Of course, you can enjoy the beach all year round at Los Angeles, but if you are here for the summer- the beach is a must. The waters are warmer to swim around, and if you’re looking to tan, the sun will make sure to give you a healthy glow (don’t forget to put some sunscreen though!)

Some beaches to check out around the are Santa Monica Beach, Venice Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach.
