ACADEMIC SERVICES

STUDENT VISA

Students enrolling in a minimum 24-lesson per week course are eligible to receive an I-20 form and may apply for a student visa at any United States visa office. Before the I-20 form is issued by ELC, the following must be received:

  • Your completed and signed application form
  • The application fee
  • Financial documentation per INS rules.

(All documents not originally in English must be accompanied by an English translation.)

When the proper documentation, fees, and application form have been received, the I-20 form will be sent.

STUDENT ORIENTATION AND PLACEMENT

On your first day of class you should arrive at ELC between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. At this time, you will be tested for placement and will have a personal interview with the Director of Courses. You will then be placed in the appropriate level for each skill area. After completing the placement process, you will be ready to begin class by 11:00 AM. On especially popular start dates, General English students are given a complimentary tour of the city after the placement procedure, and they then begin class on Tuesday morning. An orientation for new students is held during the first week of classes.

STUDY HALL WITH FREE TUTORING

At each ELC, teachers provide students with additional academic help, free of charge, during designated study hall hours.
