Summer Junior English Program at UCLA
Our junior summer camp runs at UCLA in Los Angeles: 20 lessons a week, off campus most afternoons for activities, full-day excursions every Sunday, and one package price.
The ELC Summer Junior Program at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) gives students the unique opportunity to live and study English on the fabulous campus of a world famous university. During July and August, students enrolled in our Summer Junior Program at UCLA will live in residence halls on campus. Summer Junior Program students will take English classes in the mornings. On the weekends, students will be able to participate in optional Saturday activities and an included full-day excursion on Sunday.

The program in brief
The package price covers housing, classes, meals, daily activities, access to UCLA and the Sunday excursions. A transportation fee covers airport transfers and transport to activities and excursions. Here is everything on the pass.

Good to know: 18 meals a week (full board Monday to Friday, half board Saturday, breakfast Sunday). Saturday to Saturday, 1-week minimum. Single or shared rooms in Hedrick, Dykstra or Sproul Hall. The airport transfer is included in the transportation fee for Saturday arrivals and departures between 9 AM and 7 PM; outside that window an extra transfer fee applies. Activities are a mix of cultural, sports, sightseeing and shopping.
A typical week at UCLA
Mornings are for English. Afternoons and weekends are all about exploring Los Angeles. Morning courses, afternoon activities and the Sunday full-day excursion are included and compulsory; evening and Saturday activities are optional.
Twenty English lessons a week (two 45-minute and one 90-minute lesson per teaching day), 15 hours in total. Program dates for 2027 are confirmed at booking.
What students study
Students participate in Morning Courses Monday to Friday. Morning Courses are compulsory and are included in the Summer Junior Program package.
Semi-Intensive English Course
Two 45-minute lessons and one 90-minute lesson per day (total 15 hours per week). Students in our Semi-Intensive English Course will improve their English skills using the communicative approach. They will study grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking and listening comprehension in real-life situations. Includes optional specialized electives: Film elective (June 28 to July 23) and TOEFL preparation (July 26 to August 6). 2027 start dates: any Monday from June 28 to August 2.
Entrepreneurship Course
Two 45-minute lessons and one 90-minute lesson per day (total 15 hours per week), a 2-week course. Entrepreneurship students will combine academics, training games, and projects to understand concepts of business and leadership in our Entrepreneurship and Advanced Entrepreneurship Courses. At the end of their two-week course students will present their business plans and team projects. This course is for high intermediate and advanced students. Outside the morning classes, Entrepreneurship students follow the same afternoon activity, evening and Sunday excursion schedule as the rest of the Summer Junior Program. 2027 start dates: July 5 and July 19.
Afternoons and weekends
Students will enjoy the diversity that Los Angeles offers through participating in a variety of cultural, sports, sightseeing, and shopping activities. Summer Junior Program students participate in activities Monday to Friday after their courses. Afternoon activities are compulsory and are included in the Summer Junior Program package. Evening and Saturday activities are always optional and offered to all students. ELC always offers a combination of free and low-cost evening and Saturday activities. On Sundays, all students go off campus on a chartered bus to a theme park or another exciting all-day activity.

Residence halls on campus
Most students in our Summer Junior Program stay in the residence halls on the UCLA campus. The residence halls have the following features:
Day Student (no accommodation included)
Students can register without accommodation and meals as day students. Day students are students who stay with family or family friends while they participate in the Summer Junior Program. The day program includes the morning courses, the afternoon activities and the Sunday full-day excursion.
Day students arrive on campus by 8:30AM Monday through Friday and depart campus by 6pm, once afternoon activities are completed. The student is responsible for their own transportation to and from campus each day; transport to activities and the Sunday excursion is covered by the transportation fee. Like every student, day students can also participate in optional Saturday activities for an additional cost.
